South Meath Jetski Club Formed! E-mail

A group of PWC and Powerboat enthusiasts form the village of Longwood in south county Meath went about forming a club with the goal of protecting the sport that they and their families have enjoyed for the past ten years or so. We were given assistance in the administration involved by Joe Dolan of Lough Derg jet ski  club and Denis Dilon of the ISA.

We pulled all the documentation together and at a meeting held in September 2008 the club was formed. The club constitution was adopted and items like rules, regulation, training and insurance were noted as topics to be addressed by the incoming committee. The club was affiliated by the ISA in December 2008 and a working relationship between the ISA and the Club has been established. To this end the club attended the PWC workshop for all new club held in Athlone on 9th January. The club members came away from that meeting with a clear view of what is needed to ensure the protection of our sport and a determination to work hard to see that this happens. It was also very enjoyable to meet up with other club members from throughout the country.

We also made a good contact in Richie O’Hara from the water sports centre at the Hudson Bay in Athlone and we aim to use this centre for training all club members in the up-coming national certificate in PWC use. We are looking forward to working with and enjoying the water with all our new friends in the PWC community
